Food Stamp Feud Jails Woman After Allegedly Attacking Pregnant Cousin

LUBBOCK, TX — A woman was arrested after a family argument over a stolen food stamp card escalated, with her allegedly throwing one cousin to the ground and striking a pregnant cousin in the face.

According to court documents, Lubbock Police officers responded to a radio call about a domestic disturbance at the 2500 block of 1st Street. While en route, police dispatch informed officers that a female, later identified as Christina Flores, 47, was wearing a green shirt and blue pants, had allegedly assaulted the reporting party and her pregnant daughter.

When officers arrived, they made contact with Flores, who claimed her cousins had attacked her. Flores stated the argument was over a dispute with her cousins' food stamps and cash cards.

Officers then spoke to the cousins involved. One cousin was observed to be pregnant, and the other cousin had small lacerations on the bottoms of both knees.

The cousins reported that they were walking home from McDonald's, and when they arrived home, Flores immediately accused one of them of stealing her food stamps card.

The cousins explained to officers that during the altercation, Flores grabbed one cousin by the hair and threw her to the ground. The second cousin witnessed this and tried to intervene to separate the two.

The pregnant cousin told officers that when she stepped between the two to stop the fight, Flores hit her in the face with a closed fist, then pushed her to the ground. While the pregnant cousin was on the ground, court documents state she reported that Flores attempted to kick her in the stomach.

Based on the situation, officers determined that Flores caused pain and bodily injury to both cousins and arrested her at the scene.

Christina Flores was charged with Domestic Assault and Assault of a Pregnant Person, and transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center, where she remains with a bond set at $7,500.
