Texas DPS Seek Answers in 2013 Highway Homicide

AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Public Safety is asking the public for new tips in a 2013 cold case involving the murder of Lillian Desiree Descoteau, whose body was found near Hallsville in Harrison County. A $6,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.

Descoteau, who was 51 years old at the time, was found dead on October 7, 2013, near the FM 450 ramp onto I-20, just south of Hallsville. Her body was discovered by two truck drivers and appeared to have been sexually assaulted, beaten, and strangled. She only wore a light blue pullover, a white bra, and one diamond stud earring.

According to DPS, Descoteau had lived a transient lifestyle, spending time in several states, including Alaska, Colorado, Ohio, Georgia, Maryland, and Louisiana. Her most recent known residence was in Irving, Texas, where she briefly worked as a commercial truck driver.

This case is one of more than 140 unsolved investigations featured on the Texas Rangers Cold Case website. The reward money will be offered through Texas Crime Stoppers, funded by the Governor’s Public Safety Office, DPS says.

Anyone with information about Descoteau’s death is encouraged to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Texas Crime Stoppers.
