Lubbock's Latest Restaurant Health Inspections Apr. 26-May 2

 

LUBBOCK, TX — Seven Lubbock restaurants received adequate scores in this week’s health inspections, racking up dozens of violations, while 12 others earned top scores.

Top performers have scores considered 90 and above, while adequate performers score between 80 and 89. Low performers have scores of 79 and below.

Below is the list of performers for the week of April 26 through May 2:

Adequate Performers:

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar at 5107 82nd Street
Score: 80
Violations: 36

  • Accumulation of food residue on food-contact surface of tongs stored on drying rack.
  • Food residue on the food-contact surfaces of clean plates and metal containers located on drying rack.
  • Container of mold stain remover stored above packaged wiping cloths on shelf located in storage unit behind facility.
  • Dish detergent stored above sink that is being used to prep food.
  • Faucet sprayer stored below flood level rim of rinse sink in ware washing area.
  • Hand washing cleanser not available in men's restroom.
  • Two wet wiping cloths, not in-use, stored on prep sink.

  • Two pans of cooked barbacoa prepared 4/28 are at 44°F and 43°F. Pans were placed in the walk in cooler on 4/28 to cool.
  • A bowl of raw shell eggs stored on prep table at a temperature of 61°F. Eggs have been out of refrigeration for less than 4 hours.
  • Raw whole muscle beef stored above whole limes in walk in cooler.
  • A container of raw cracked and pooled shell eggs stored above whole lemons in walk in cooler.
  • Sanitizer bucket with lactic acid sanitizer has 0ppm sanitizer in and sanitizer solution.
  • A container of diced prepared on sited RTE/TCS radishes in reach in cooler has no date marking. PIC stated the radishes were prepared 4/26.
  • A container of opened commercially prepared RTE/TCS milk stored in walk in cooler has no date marking. PIC stated the milk was opened 4/28.
  • A container of cut prepared on sited RTE/TCS onions in reach in cooler has no date marking. PIC stated the onions were prepared 4/28.
  • A container of sliced prepared on site RTE/TCS radishes in reach in cooler has not date marking. PIC stated the radishes were prepared 4/28.
  • A container of cut prepared on site RTE/TCS cabbage in reach in cooler has no date marking. PIC stated the cabbage was prepared 4/26.
  • Sticky fly tape strips are installed above the dry storage area over the bulk rice, sugar, salt, beans and above dry goods stored on shelves.

  • Employee performed 7 second hand wash.
  • Spray bottle with clear liquid stored on chemical storage shelf not identified with common name of the material.

  • Eggs and raw bacon were stored above ready-to-eat foods in the walk-in cooler. Raw beef, stored in a resealable plastic bag, was in the same drawer as cooked beef, also stored in resealable plastic bags. Drawer below contained ready-to-eat vegetables. No contamination was observed.
  • Knives stored on knife rack were visibly soiled.
  • Various containers of prepare on site foods, including cooked chicken and cooked beef were not labeled with the date of preparation.
  • Containers of foods that are not time/temperature controlled were stored uncovered on top of a cooler.
  • Two chipped knives and three melted scoops were damaged and not in good repair.
  • Ice bucket was not covered or inverted in storage.
  • Spoon stored in container of vegetable oil spread had its handle in the product.
  • Single-use polystyrene cup was used as continuous container for sugar water.

  • Two rotten tomatos stored with other ready to use tomatoes in walk in cooler.
  • Molded lemon stored with other ready to use lemons in walk in cooler.
  • Raw whole muscle pork stored over raw whole muscle beef. No cross contamination observed.
  • Small ware wash machine dispensing a chlorine sanitizer solution at a concentration above 100ppm chlorine.
  • Cut RTE/TCS pineapple prepared on site stored in walk in cooler with no date marking.
  • Cut RTE/TCS apples prepared on site stored in walk in cooler with no date marking.
