LUBBOCK, TX – Lubbock Fire Rescue announced that applications for Probationary Firefighters will be accepted starting Friday, March 7.
According to LFR, this is a rare opportunity, and anyone interested in starting a career in firefighting is encouraged to apply.
The Probationary Firefighter, or “probie,” is an entry-level position with Lubbock Fire Rescue. The department offers a starting salary of $66,568 with annual step increases and a 24-hour on/48-hour off schedule.
Along with a competitive salary, Lubbock Fire Rescue offers health, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits, plus a pension plan for retirement. Firefighters also enjoy 11 paid holidays and 15 vacation days each year. Paid training is provided for firefighters, EMT-Basic, and paramedic certifications, and there are opportunities for specialized training in areas like heavy rescue, HAZMAT, dive rescue, and SWAT medic.
LFR also announced that the written exam for applicants is scheduled for June 18 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.
