Live Fire Training Scheduled at Preston Smith Intl. Airport

LUBBOCK, TX  The City of Lubbock has announced that live fire training will take place at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport on Friday, April 18.

The training will be conducted at the airport’s Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) Training Facility, which is expected to produce visible smoke and flames. Officials say the fire and smoke may be seen from surrounding neighborhoods throughout the day.

Residents and businesses in the area are advised that this is a planned training exercise, not an emergency.

Anyone with questions or concerns can contact Airport Operations, which is staffed 24 hours a day, at (806) 775-2044.
