LUBBOCK, TX — Mayor Mark W. McBrayer and the Lubbock Apartment Association announced they will present a check from the money raised at the 43rd Annual State of the City in early March.
The check will be presented to the Guadalupe-Parkway Neighborhood Centers at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23.
According to a press release, each year a portion of the proceeds from the State of the City event is given to a local charity selected by the mayor. Over the past 40 years, the Lubbock Apartment Association has donated around $300,000 to various local organizations.
The Guadalupe-Parkway Neighborhood Sommerville Center supports children and families in North and East Lubbock through educational programs.
These programs offer after-school tutoring, STEM classes, music and art instruction, and life skills workshops to help individuals grow and connect with their community.
The Guadalupe-Parkway Neighborhood Center is located at 405 N Martin Luther King Boulevard.
