Lubbock Fire Rescue, U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect in Arson Investigation

LUBBOCK, TX — A 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged with first-degree felony arson following a house fire earlier this week in East Lubbock, officials announced Sunday.

Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to a 911 call on June 18 reporting smoke coming from the backyard of a home near the 1100 block of East Stanford Street. When crews from Quint 2 arrived, they found flames coming from the rear of the residence. Firefighters quickly entered the structure and extinguished the fire before it could spread further. No injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross is assisting residents who were displaced by the fire.

After an investigation by the Lubbock Fire Marshal’s Office, officials determined the fire had been intentionally set. With assistance from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, authorities arrested Patrick Rodriguez, 41, without incident. He is charged with one count of first-degree felony arson.

The investigation remains ongoing.
