City of Lubbock Independence Day Holiday Closures

LUBBOCK, TX — In observance of Independence Day, City of Lubbock offices will be closed Friday, July 4. Normal operations will resume Monday, July 7.

Below is a breakdown of service adjustments and closures for the holiday:

Residential Trash Collection
Solid waste collection normally scheduled for Friday, July 4, will occur one day earlier on Thursday, July 3.

Recycling and Landfill Operations

  • Both city landfills will be closed Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5.

  • The attended drop-off recycling station will also be closed Friday, July 4.

All Lubbock Public Library locations will be closed Friday, July 4.

Community and Recreation Centers

  • All community centers, senior centers, and Safety City will be closed on July 4.

  • Burgess Rushing Tennis Center will remain open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Buddy Holly Center, Silent Wings Museum, and the Garden & Arts Center will all be closed on Friday, July 4.
