LUBBOCK, TX — The Buddy Holly Center will wrap up its 2025 Summer Showcase Concert Series on Thursday, Aug. 14, with a performance by Element, a Lubbock-based funk and soul band.
Formed in 2004, Element has built a loyal following with its high-energy performances and sound reminiscent of legendary group Kool & the Gang. Known for an infectious groove that gets audiences dancing, the band has been a local favorite for more than two decades.
The Summer Showcase concerts are held Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Meadows Courtyard. Admission is free, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. Outside food is permitted, but outside beverages are not allowed after 5:15 p.m. Chairs, picnic blankets and similar items are not permitted inside the gates.
Guests are also encouraged to tour the Buddy Holly exhibitions and Fine Arts Gallery during concert hours, with free admission provided.
This year’s series was presented in collaboration with Civic Lubbock, Inc. and the City of Lubbock, and funded through sponsorships and donations from H-E-B, Grand Central Station Antiques, FOX34 KJTV, KLZK Classical 105.7, School of Rock, South Plains Electric Cooperative, Fast Signs, Lubbock National Bank, Texas Tech School of Music, Oceans Massage Spa and School, Tarpley Music, Quarter Four, Texas Tech Presidential Lecture and Performance Series, Don and Beverly McBeath, and Jim and Patti Douglass.
