Lubbock Christian's Foster, McCool Named LSC Scholar-Athletes

RICHARDSON, TX — Lubbock Christian University’s Grace Foster and Brevin McCool were named Wednesday to the Lone Star Conference Scholar-Athlete Class of 2025, honoring their exceptional achievements in academics, athletics and leadership. Each year, the LSC recognizes one male and one female student-athlete from each member institution for the prestigious award.

Foster, a standout on the women’s basketball team, and McCool, a dominant force in baseball, capped record-setting senior seasons that garnered national recognition and added their names to the list of LCU’s top scholar-athletes.

Grace Foster | Women’s Basketball | Childress, Texas

Foster was named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for NCAA Division II by College Sports Communicators — the highest academic honor at the Division II level. A two-time Academic All-America First Team honoree, she becomes the fourth Lady Chap to earn LSC Scholar-Athlete recognition.

On the court, Foster led LCU to a 32-5 record and a trip to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. She averaged 20.2 points per game (11th nationally), led the LSC in field goals made (242), and ranked among national leaders in 3-point shooting (40.9%) and free-throw percentage (89.6%). She was named:

  • LSC Most Valuable Player

  • LSC Academic Player of the Year

  • D2CCA South Central Region Most Outstanding Player

Foster finished her career with 2,056 points — the second-most in LCU history — and program records in field goals made (680) and attempted (1,427). Her 746 points in the 2024–25 season set a new single-season program record.

Brevin McCool | Baseball | Hobbs, New Mexico

McCool was named National Player of the Year by both the NCBWA and D2CCA, and is a consensus First Team All-American. He becomes the second baseball player in LCU history to earn LSC Scholar-Athlete honors, following teammate Carson Ogilvie in 2024.

The senior outfielder posted one of the most prolific seasons in Division II history, hitting .406 with 31 home runs, 84 RBI, and a .936 slugging percentage. He broke multiple Lone Star Conference records, including:

  • Single-game, single-season, and career home runs

  • Single-season total bases (205)

  • Career sacrifice flies (tied, 18)

McCool finishes his career tied for second in LCU history with 61 home runs, fifth in RBI (233), and eighth in doubles (57).

The Lone Star Conference Scholar-Athlete Award is presented annually to graduating student-athletes who have completed at least two seasons of competition while excelling in the classroom, in competition and in service to their community. The Class of 2025 includes 33 student-athletes across 17 LSC member institutions, representing 15 championship sports.
