LUBBOCK, TX – Zabrina Kelley has been named the new head girls volleyball coach at Talkington School for Young Women Leaders, Lubbock ISD announced Monday. Kelley will also serve as the head coach for the girls' track program.
A Lubbock native and Estacado High School graduate, Kelley brings 25 years of experience in education and coaching at both the middle and high school levels. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Lubbock Christian University with a minor in English and a master’s degree in Teacher Leadership from Park University.
Kelley previously spent three years coaching at Reagan High School and six years at Cavazos Middle School, where she served as Girls Athletic Coordinator and Special Education Teacher Lead. She was recognized with the Teacher Incentive Allotment Exemplary designation for her outstanding performance and commitment to student achievement.
“We are thrilled to welcome Zabrina to the Talkington family,” said Mike Meeks, Lubbock ISD executive director of athletics. “Her extensive experience, proven leadership and dedication to student success make her the perfect fit to lead our volleyball and track programs.”
Kelley said she is excited about the opportunity to contribute to the development of student-athletes at Talkington.
"I am honored to join the Talkington SYWL community and excited about the opportunity to work with these talented young women," said Kelley. "I look forward to building a program that emphasizes excellence, teamwork, and personal growth both on and off the court."
