IRVING, TX — Texas Tech forward JT Toppin was named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and sixth time in his career, the league announced Monday.
Toppin averaged a double-double across two games, highlighted by a 31-point, 13-rebound performance in a 78-75 overtime win at then-No. 1 Arizona. He also scored 16 points and matched a career high with 18 rebounds in a home victory over Colorado.
The junior scored eight of Texas Tech’s 12 overtime points against Arizona and also earned Big 12 Starting Five honors for the sixth time this season.
A Dallas native, Toppin leads the nation with 226 made field goals and paces the Big 12 in double-doubles (16), rebounds per game (11.0) and offensive rebounds per game (4.25). He averages 21.9 points per game, ranking third in the conference and ninth nationally entering the Red Raiders’ matchup at Arizona State.
Toppin was the 2024-25 Big 12 Player of the Year and a consensus second-team All-American before being selected the Big 12 preseason player of the year this season. He has recorded a double-double in nine of 12 conference games and owns 47 career double-doubles, the second-most among active NCAA players.
His outing against Arizona marked only the second time in NCAA history a player recorded a 30-point double-double in a road win over a No. 1-ranked team.
Also named to the Big 12 Starting Five were Baylor’s Tounde Yessoufou, BYU’s Rob Wright and AJ Dybantsa, and Houston’s Emanuel Sharp.
