LUBBOCK, TEXAS — The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Texas stands at $2.76, up just one cent from last week but 50 cents lower than last year, according to the latest AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.
Among the major metropolitan areas surveyed, Dallas drivers pay the most at the pump, an average of $2.94 per gallon. Meanwhile, drivers in Corpus Christi enjoy the state’s lowest average price, $2.59 per gallon. Lubbock drivers also enjoy the state’s low average, sitting at $2.60 per gallon.
Nationwide, the average cost of regular unleaded fuel is $3.19 per gallon, two cents higher than last week but 47 cents lower than one year ago.
While spring typically brings higher fuel prices due to increased travel and seasonal demand, falling crude oil prices have helped stabilize costs for Texas drivers. According to AAA, recent declines in oil prices are attributed to global economic concerns and a decision by OPEC+ to boost production despite sluggish demand.
“Crude oil prices are decreasing, and that’s helping to keep gas prices in check for Texas drivers—even as seasonal demand ticks up,” said Daniel Armbruster, spokesperson for AAA Texas.
