LUBBOCK, TX — A traffic stop in western Lubbock County led to a pursuit that ended with the arrest of a driver Wednesday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Authorities said a DPS trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation around 2:25 p.m. on Texas 114 near the Lubbock-Hockley County line. The driver fled, prompting a pursuit eastbound on the highway into the city of Lubbock, where Texas 114 becomes 19th Street.
A second trooper deployed a tire deflation device near the intersection of 19th Street and Iola Avenue, helping bring the vehicle to a stop at 19th Street and Frankford Avenue.
The driver, identified as Christina Ewing, 49, was taken into custody without injury and transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center.
She was charged with evading arrest with a vehicle, resisting arrest and a traffic violation for passing certain vehicles under the state’s Move Over, Slow Down law.
