LUBBOCK, TX — Another round of severe weather is expected to develop this afternoon across the South Plains, with storms capable of producing damaging winds up to 90 mph, large hail, tornadoes, and flooding, according to the National Weather Service.
Storms will begin forming along the Texas–New Mexico border around 3 to 4 p.m. and track eastward through the evening. The strongest storms are expected to impact the Caprock and parts of the Rolling Plains.
Forecasters say this could easily be a repeat of the previous day’s severe weather, with all hazards remaining in play as the atmosphere remains unstable.

This afternoon, there is a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., with some storms expected to become severe. Temperatures will reach near 91°F, with winds from the south around 10 mph. Rainfall could range from a quarter to half an inch.
Storms will remain possible tonight through 1 a.m. with a 40% chance of continued showers and thunderstorms. Some storms may bring heavy rainfall. Conditions will gradually clear overnight, with a low around 65°F and east winds shifting to the south after midnight.
Everyone in the area should be advised to stay aware throughout the day and evening.
