GARZA COUNTY, TX – A Seminole man was killed Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 84, approximately two miles north of FM 1269, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash occurred around 9:16 a.m. when a 2009 Ford F-250 traveling southbound left the roadway for unknown reasons, DPS officials said. The truck entered the west barrow ditch, struck a highway sign and a guardrail, then veered back across the southbound lanes, crossed the center median and the northbound lanes, and continued through a barbed-wire fence before coming to rest in a ditch.
The driver, identified as Donald Clayton, 58, of Seminole, was wearing a seatbelt but was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported.
Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
